The Ananda Tree Yoga Wear
Namaste everyone!
Today I would like to introduce to you my mum and I's new, gorgeous range of yoga wear! We have been working hard on this collection for the past few months and I am so excited that it is finally live!
We primarily use bamboo due to its amazing properties:
o Quickly wicks away moisture from skin o Stays odor free - will not absorb and concentrate odors like most performance clothing o Thermal regulating - keeping you cooler in summer and warmer in winter o Amazingly soft and comfortable - feels like a blend of silk and cashmere o Sustainable - the raw material is natural, sustainable, self regenerating, and extremely fast growing (a lot of man made clothing is now made from petroleum based products) o Extremely breathable o Naturally hypoallergenic and non-irritating to the skin o Great anti-static properties - won’t cling to skin o Strong and durable o Blocks harmful UV rays o Easy to dye - no harsh dyes or bleaching needed to get color to take
My mum, Kirsti has designed all the items based on her own photographic endeavors: from sharks to burnt woods, florals to leather bound books. Each item of clothing has a story behind it. For example, the azure Luusi leggings above draw their inspiration from a picture taken of the flowers in our back garden, covered in dew illuminated by the morning light. The cream set below is our Catja top and Saja leggings, the print of which is based on a picture of palm leaves taken in the Bahamas. Each item represents a story, or place we have visited. It creates such a unique design, which really comes across in the final product. The final result is so unlike any yoga clothing I have ever seen before!
You may also be wondering where the names of the products come from. For those of you who don't know, my grandmother is from Finland. We were experimenting with different names for the clothes, for example, naming them after yoga postures of types of yoga, but it didn't quite fit. Plus, let's be honest, it's been done before. Then we experimented with naming each item a Finnish name. Much to our surprise, it fit perfectly! It was nice to add in some of our heritage into the clothes, and it made them feel even more "us." And yes, the Hannela/Hanni and Kirsti leggings will be coming at some point. They will be extra special, so watch this space ;)
